Our client is a leading multinational in the energy sector that helps cities and industries to manage and optimise their resources.
The company provides an array of solutions related to water, energy, and materials – with a focus on waste recovery – to promote the transition toward a circular economy. To this end, the company designs and deploys specialist solutions to provide, protect and replenish resources while increasing their efficiency from an environmental, economic, and social standpoint.
Our client needed to transform their service offering to further improve their position as the market leader. This formed part of a wider project to move the business away from engineering and delivery, to technology and services. To achieve this, it was essential to acquire a service leader with a combination of experience, capable of actioning the modernisation and improvements needed to deliver their service ambitions.
With a 15-year working relationship with the client and extensive knowledge of this specific sector and candidate market, Edward Drummond & Co was appointed as the executive search partner for this key appointment.
We were looking for someone who had held full P&L responsibility for multimillion pound business units, had led large teams of engineering technicians through significant digital transformation programmes, and had successfully guided organisations through significant cultural and technical change.
The search for the new Chief Services Officer began with a comprehensive market mapping exercise of sufficiently sized businesses with large service teams. This spanned not just capital equipment manufacturers in the energy sector, but also the industrial, utilities, food and drink, medical and scientific worlds.
This innovative and comprehensive search methodology enabled us to:
- Cover all the relevant companies across sectors
- Engage with transformative service leaders with the skills and experience to impact our client’s growth targets
- Undertake extensive face to face assessment of candidates to ensure the right mix of aptitude and attitude
- Manage the candidate journey carefully, to ensure the best possible candidate experience
- Ensure that, crucially, the preferred candidate could be secured within the client’s time and cost parameters.
We found and placed a high calibre, proven global services leader from an international medical devices business, within 3 months. This person is now having a positive impact on our client’s service transformation journey, as well as creating a digital service offering and platform of innovation that gives their customers an enhanced and more holistic service.
