Client:

The leading manufacturer of first and business class seats for the world’s commercial aviation industry. A business that had grown dramatically (3 large UK locations) in recent years. The company had historically invested most effort on engineering and operational functions; other critical functions, such as Finance, had historically lagged behind, particularly in terms of leadership.

Client’s Journey:

A newly appointed CEO (UK) with a very strong global track record (she was highly regarded within the wider global business – one of the largest aerospace manufacturers) joined the business with a new strategic focus, requiring exceptional leadership in both Finance and Human Resources. A new CFO was required to lead the Finance in the UK and transform it to become a critical function, helping lead the business going forward by realising the strong growth opportunity (global market leader) and ensure this position ultimately translated to bottom line success.

Our client was already the market leader, but operated within a niche (historically removed, aerospace segment) – aircraft interiors. This was beginning to change, industry wide, but we needed to find a strong financial leader who had learnt best practice and expertise from those industry leading organisations and could bring this experience and know-how to our client and the Interiors Industry, more broadly.

Our Solution:

Although we considered searching outside of the aerospace industry (such as other project led engineering/manufacturing organisations), the program nature of this specialised sector ensured we focused within aerospace, identifying current CFO’s and FDs with track records, leading strategic change such as this. We sought individuals able to lead a business not just the Finance team. A challenging and demanding role, ultimately helping transform a global market leader and by inference a wider industrial segment.

We conducted a meticulous and thorough search, identifying stronger candidates and care was then taken to articulate the opportunity accurately, presenting both the challenges and ultimate rewards.
